Development of pilotless target aircraft.
According to a CAG report tabled in Parliament "sub optimal performance of three PTAs (Lakshya-I) delivered to the IAF made IAF to refuse delivery of the remaining 12.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has been held responsible for pushing ahead with production despite prototype not meeting the qualitative requirement of IAF. Even after spending Rs. 165 crore over a period of 27 years, the efforts of DRDO and HAL have not become fruitful.
